I tried a NEW fudge recipe last night. Wow…it’s probably been a decade since I last made fudge! BUT…when I saw this recipe for Samoa Fudge, I knew I had to try it. Why? Because I LOVE the Girl Scout Samoas cookies, and anything with a similar taste has to be my friend!

WHY is it that we desire the VERY THING in which we can’t easily have at the moment? With my kitchen torn apart, I current have no sink….no stove….no countertops etc. Therefore what do you think my greatest desire is? Yes, you guess it!…To be making all these delicious looking dishes from my Pinterest recipe board!
I remember when I had extreme sciatica and could barely walk. When I saw people out jogging, I had a great desire to RUN that was almost overwhelming! (If only I had that same burning desire now, I’d definitely be more physically fit)!
Why is life like this? Does anyone know the answer?
I recently got this REALLY YUMMY recipe for Peanut Butter bars from a co-worker….and I’m not even that big of a fan of PB! But, the recipe is quick, easy and delicious. My kind of recipe! The first time I made these, I was PLAIN-JANE and simply cut them in to squares; but this time, I used an old kitchen tool that rarely gets used and made them crinkle-cutted-ed-ed 🙂 I wanted to fancy them up a bit to take to a neighbor. Whatdoyathink??? I know they’ll disappear soon! They taste just like Reeses Peanut Butter cups. If you like PB…try these! (or something else NEW)!

Not Just a Housewife
Our family went to a get-together last Friday evening and we were assigned to bring a salad. So, I took this easy/yummy Italian Veggie Pasta Salad. BUT…OH.MY! All the other salads that were there were also soooooo yummy! I wanted recipes for ALL of them! I noted the ingredients in one particularly scrumptious salad and then came home and searched for a recipe with similar ingredients. I think I came pretty close to finding it and I made it for dinner on Sunday. I need to do that more often!…because I scored! Here are both recipes:
Italian Veggie Pasta Salad
1 package colored spiral pasta; Your choice of vegetables (I used broccoli, cauliflower, grape tomatoes, yellow pepper and baby carrots). Boil pasta and mix together with all chopped up veggies; pour 1/2 to full bottle of Bernstein Italian Dressing over pasta and veggies. Chill at least 2 hours.
Chicken Pasta Salad
2 – 8oz packages of bowtie pasta
1 cup celery – chopped
1 can pineapple tidbits – drained
2 cans mandarin oranges – drained
1 -12.5 oz canned chicken (or chopped cooked chicken)
1 package craisins
2 cups grapes (red or green)
1 cup cashews
1 bottle Kraft coleslaw dressing
1/2 cup mayonnaise
Cook the pasta and drain. Place in a large bowl. Add all the ingredients and mix well. Delicious! Serves 15-25
I had a great time yesterday with my good friend. We spent some time chit-chatting and catching up with each other…BUT we were multi-tasking and being domestically productive AT THE SAME TIME! You’ve all heard of getting some R & R time?…Well, we had some great F & F time! FREEZER AND FRIENDSHIP TIME!
We each chose three meals and bought all the ingredients then helped each other put the meals together. We both now have 6 meals in our freezer. SUCH a good thing!!! Yes, I know some women do the OAMC thing, but this was our first go at this, so we started small. Next time we’ll probably each do 4 meals and work our way up from there.
My OLD Clam Chowder recipe which I got from my Sister-In-Law many years ago has always been a favorite…and it ALWAYS gets compliments! My goal for the RECIPE section of this blog is to get the recipes as well as a photo of all my family’s favorite dishes (little by little). So…the photo is NEW, but the recipe is pretty old! It’s TRIED AND TRUE! If you try it, let me know what you think! It’s really easy….but delicious!
I love, loVE, LOVE coconut! YUM! So when I noticed this recipe for Almond Joy Bites at Will Cook For Smiles, I had to try it! I also had to share some of these delicious morsels with a neighbor…simply because it was just too dangerously fattening to have all these sitting on MY kitchen counter! Spread the JOY, right?!?

Hi all! So here is pic of the fixin’s of a NEW recipe I’m going to try today. Split Pea Soup! I’ve never made split pea soup before….mainly because I just remember a watery-green, gross looking soup, which I had no desire to make. But since I had left-over ham and this recipe at Angela’s Adventures looked so yummy and soooo easy, I’m going to try it! I’ll add an additional review tomorrow. We have out-of-town guests staying at our house, so I’m hoping it’ll be a hit. Again, I’ll let you know. Have a great Saturday, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
REVIEW: My house guests liked it! My husband liked it! I kind of liked it…it reminded me a little bit of the baby food peas I use to feed my babies :o). I couldn’t get my teenage boys to touch it. Overall, I’m glad I tried it. (I can say I’ve done it now!) But it probably won’t be a regular recipe of ours.
Tonight I tried a NEW flavor of Muddy Buddies…Peppermint! Tis the season, right?!? I have a list of different varieties I want to eventually try. What a versatile snack! And if I get ambitious, I’ll have to try and create my own specialty….I’ll get back with you on that :o)

Fresh scones! Yummy!….BUT they HAVE to have honey butter on them, right? As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, if you happen to leave roll dough in the freezer a bit too long, (and they decide they don’t want to raise), just make scones! I searched the web for variations on honey butter recently and thought I’d share with you what I found:

Also Simply So Good had a recipe which I have to try soon! It reminds me of the really yummy Raspberry Butter I had at a restaurant on a recent weekend trip. If it’s even tastes close….I know it will be fantastic!
