a NEW photo challenge {twisted}

Happy Friday!

Ya know, sometimes you just need a little nudge to get around to gettin’ things done! We visited Twisted Forest two weeks ago and my photos were still sitting on my camera.  So, when I saw Nancy’s photo challenge of “Twisted”, that was just the nudge I needed to download these photos, so I could join in the challenge!

This short hike (but somewhat steep in some areas) was amazing! You get to walk through a forest of bristlecone pines, which are the oldest known species of pine trees! Some of these trees are thousands of years old (yeah, I know they look it, too!) The terrain at the bottom of the trail looks like a scene from a movie:twisted2.jpg

Then you hike up…and up…and up…and this is your view over the ledge!

A great view of Cedar Breaks National Monument!  I’m happy to have hiked a NEW trail. Now on to other Newness. Have a great weekend!

a NEW photo of my week and a short Sunday sermon

Happy Sunday! I never get tired of visiting Cedar Breaks National Monument. They were having a Wildflower Festival the day we drove by.  We didn’t stop at the visitors center, but stopped down the road a bit and took these flower pics.

So for today’s short sermon, I’ll just feature the lyrics from the great musical sermon “How Great Thou Art”.  Because this place and many others are definitely an ‘awesome wonder’!!!

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
And when I think of God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And lead me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow with humble adoration,
And then proclaim, “My God, how great Thou art!”
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

How was everyone’s weekend?  I  previous mentioned that I was spending my 4th of July at a family reunion.  It was great!  Especially since I got to go somewhere NEW!  We had about seventy family members camping at Panguitch Lake, so I got to spend the weekend with my siblings and niblings.  I just learned that NEW word (nibling) from The Everywhereist, although it hasn’t made it to my dictionary yet :o)

Anyway…I grew up in “Color Country“….meaning we were surrounded by beautiful mountains and colorful rock formations which we visited A LOT  like….
